4 Spring hybrid panels for self-installation – Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie (FR)
“The idea of these double solar panels is great, it seduced me from the start.” This is in a few words what Jean Paul thinks of DualSun hybrid panels.
This retired man who was a technical executive in the audiovisual industry chose to install himself 4 DualSun Spring solar panels on a shady area built for the occasion.
The electricity produced by the front side of the panel is self-consumed in the house while the hot water produced by the back side of the panel is used for the showers. “It works very well, it works very well and we wash ourselves with hot water from the sun. This year in the Vendée we had 5 months of sunshine so we never had any electricity in the water heater (during these periods).“
This seaside house from the 1920s is a second home occupied about 1-2 weeks a month. It accommodates an average of 4 people. The house is 60m2 on the ground and has been enlarged afterwards to allow the creation of two new bedrooms.
In addition to being passionate about solar energy, Jean-Paul is a real handyman. “The installer is myself. I did the whole thing, the support, the installation of the panels, the electrical connection, the installation of the water heater, the plumbing…”.
Indeed, it is possible to buy your solar panels and install them yourself. For example, the Panosol dealer offers the DualSun products for sale on his site.
More than a year after the construction site, Jean-Paul says: “I am completely satisfied with this installation. Here we recover 80% of the sun’s energy, whereas on a photovoltaic panel it’s not even 20%. Many public swimming pools should be equipped with DualSun because it allows both to have an electrical supply and to heat the water as soon as the sun is there.”
He is quite right, for example we have equipped two collective swimming pools:
Today Jean-Paul recommends DualSun to his relatives, he even asks himself the question of installing a few signs on his children’s houses!
“I’ve known DualSun from the beginning because I’ve been interested in solar energy for a very long time. I saw DualSun appear in 2013 and I got in touch with them in early 2014. Then I built my project on 2 houses, my main house in Ile de France and this house in Vendée”.
