We’re in Simiane-Collongue in the Bouches-du-Rhône region at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mayen, owners since April 2018 of a DualSun solar installation that produces hot water and electricity for 4 people.

“What reassured me was having French panels, a local company for both you and the installer, and the fact that DualSun’s founders came from the same engineering school as me and are based in my region! The operation of your hybrid panels is simple and reliable. We’re in a sunny region that deserves to be better equipped with renewable energies.

Electricity prices set to rise

When they bought their house in 2006, Mr. and Mrs. Mayen immediately took steps to install solar panels. Unfortunately, they were misled by a fraudulent company, and the project didn’t go ahead at the time.

Convinced that solar energy is the future, this petrochemical engineer “wanted to find a serious company close by”, in keeping with his commitment to sustainable development. His electric water heater was beginning to age, and he had to change his tank… 12 years later, his solar project was resurrected!

Switching to cleaner energies

“Back in 2006, solar power installations involved high levels of investment, but with a lot of subsidies. For my proposal with DualSun panels, the financial package was different, I didn’t have to pay a deposit right away, and above all the amount was much lower than the proposals I’d had at the time.”

For Mr. Mayen, the decision to go solar was a logical and obvious one, for ecological reasons and out of a desire to be self-sufficient in terms of carbon resources.

Talking to others about his solar installation, here’s what he had to say: “People think renewable energies are great, but they don’t act on them because of the image that installation companies convey. It’s a field that unfortunately remains relatively underdeveloped,” he observes, “even though we have no other alternatives. There are a lot of misconceptions out there, particularly about panel recycling, when today it’s no longer in question!”

Mr. and Mrs. Mayen were extremely satisfied with the installer we put them in touch with, who installed the 10 solar panels: “the installation went very well, everything was planned and went very smoothly. The installer was very adaptable and quick”.
