To be independent, they installed 12 solar panels in 2017 - Marseille 13012 (FR)

  • Power output : 3kWp + 1.5kWth
  • Panels : 8 photovoltaic + 4 hybrid panels

Renaud and his wife have lived in a pretty house in Marseille’s 12th arrondissement for 20 years. For this couple, who are involved in community work, acquiring solar panels is part of a militant approach.

In so doing, they are seeking independence from the big groups and the chance to reclaim what belongs to them: the sun ?

A militant project to promote local products

There are always several reasons why an individual decides to fit solar panels to their home. In the case of Renaud and his wife, saving money on their energy bill was obviously a factor, but not the only one.

While they were already thinking about buying panels, the discussions they had with friends and acquaintances, and in particular with a former mayor of a village in Provence, who is very committed to renewable energies and the energy transition, really triggered their decision.

For this mother from Savoie, “growing your own garden” is important, so consuming energy makes a lot of sense.

This couple is very concerned by energy autonomy and self-consumption, so as to no longer depend on suppliers they don’t control. As a result, Renaud and his wife were won over by our dual solar panel, which enables them to produce and consume their own hot water and electricity locally.

Solar energy & the circular economy, the end of fuel poverty

By way of background, the circular economy is a paradigm shift away from the so-called linear economy. It advocates limiting the waste of resources and environmental impact, while increasing efficiency at all stages of the product economy.

It’s an argument we at Dualsun fully share! According to Renaud and his wife, the major advance of solar energy is that it can help even the most modest households earn money.

“In the working-class housing estates of Marseille, for example, this would be a major step forward. If energy were distributed among the players according to a circular economy logic, the question of fuel poverty would no longer arise.” Renaud

As we see every day, our customers are our best ambassadors. What remains is to promote solar energy as widely as possible. “Today, people aren’t informed, and for many, renewable energy is still unaffordable, unsafe and intermittent” says Renaud, “We need to build mixed companies with green financing so that it benefits everyone. Energy needs to be distributed, and we need to take a less industrial, more militant approach. With Dualsun, you generate money and increase purchasing power”.

The installation of 12 solar panels was carried out by one of our partner installers: “hyper-reactive and reliable, I recommend them” Renaud confided after the project.
