From gas boiler to solar thermal system: Annie's installation that changed everything!

  • Villette-lès-Dole, France
  • Power output : 5 kWp + 895 W thermal power per panel
  • Panels : 12 hybrids

Nearing retirement, Annie, a resident of Villette-lès-Dole (Jura), wanted to modernize her heating system to reduce her dependence on fossil fuels and control her energy costs.

Her old gas-fired boiler, although functional, was becoming too expensive to maintain and fuel. She discovered Dualsun and its innovative solarothermal heating offer. She tells us about it ⬇️

A strategic choice for an efficient energy transition

Initially, Annie planned to install an air-to-water heat pump coupled with photovoltaic panels. However, her installer suggested a more innovative and efficient alternative: solarthermal energy, a system combining Arkteos’ Inverterra water/water heat pump and Dualsun SPRING4 hybrid panels.

“When my installer explained the advantages of solarothermal energy, I quickly realized that this solution would enable me to optimize my investment while reducing my energy footprint.”

A high-performance, optimized installation

Annie therefore opted for an intelligent system, incorporating:

✅ 12 Dualsun SPRING4 hybrid panels producing both electricity and heat
✅ 5.1 kWp of photovoltaic power to cover its electricity needs
✅ 895 W of thermal power per panel, recovered day and night
✅ A water-to-water heat pump with output up to 75°C, ensuring optimum thermal comfort
✅ 60 to 70% savings on electricity, domestic hot water and heating

The combination of hybrid panels and heat pump ensures optimized heat recovery, reducing the need for an electric back-up. What’s more, the finned heat exchanger integrated into the SPRING4 panels enables heat recovery even in the absence of direct sunlight, maximizing the system’s energy efficiency.

“What convinced me was the intelligence of the coupling: every kilowatt produced is used optimally, guaranteeing controlled energy consumption and increased autonomy.”

A profitable investment and lasting comfort

This pilot installation was carried out in two weeks by a team of 3 to 4 technicians, at a total cost of €36,900 including tax. Thanks to financial aid schemes, Annie was able to benefit from €15,000 in subsidies, reducing her remaining outlay.

To optimize her self-consumption, she also opted for a 100 kWh virtual battery, enabling her to consume 67% of her photovoltaic production, compared with just 23% without a battery.

“With this system, my home is not only more autonomous, but I also benefit from long-term visibility on my energy costs. It’s a strategic and sustainable choice.”

A solution for the future of high-performance housing

Thanks to this installation, Annie now benefits from optimal thermal comfort, a significant reduction in her energy bills and a controlled carbon footprint.

With an estimated return on investment of 7 to 8 years, this technology represents a high-performance, affordable alternative for individuals wishing to commit to the energy transition.

“Solar thermal energy is a solution for the future. It combines energy performance, sustainability and profitability. I highly recommend this technology to anyone looking for an innovative and efficient alternative.”
