Hybrid solar: a solution to the energy challenges of municipal pools

With rising and fluctuating energy prices, municipal pools must find sustainable solutions to remain economically viable while ensuring quality service for users.

In Cabourg, the AQUA DIVA aquatic center chose renewable energy in 2024 by installing Dualsun SPRING4 hybrid solar panels. This innovative technology efficiently heats the outdoor pool while reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Implemented in partnership with the installer and operator Hervé Thermique, it combines electricity and heat production simultaneously.

An optimized and intelligent energy solution

The installation consists of a field of 115 SPRING4 hybrid solar panels combined with a 50 kW Heliopac SOLERPAC P heat pump. This setup maintains the temperature of the outdoor pool year-round. The pool, covering 300 m² and containing 430 m³ of water, is partially covered 12 hours a day and undergoes a daily water renewal of 12 m³ over 10 hours.

Additionally, a field of 609 Dualsun FLASH photovoltaic panels enhances the site’s self-consumption, bringing the total installed power to 100 kWc. This additional energy helps power the facility’s infrastructure while significantly lowering energy costs.

Significant environmental and economic impact

The hybrid solar installation at the Aqua Diva center offers multiple benefits:

✅ A major reduction in energy costs by limiting dependence on fossil fuels.
✅ Local and renewable energy production, ensuring greater stability against energy price fluctuations.
✅ A reduced carbon footprint, with a significant decrease in CO₂ emissions.

Dualsun: A future-proof solution for public pools

The AQUA DIVA project demonstrates that municipal pools can adopt innovative solutions to secure their energy supply while lowering operating costs. With Dualsun SPRING4 hybrid solar panels, they gain a high-performance and long-term profitable alternative. This is a crucial step toward ensuring the sustainability of aquatic facilities while contributing to the energy transition.
