Hybrid solar power is the answer to the energy challenges facing municipal swimming pools! Faced with rising and fluctuating energy prices, municipal swimming pools have to find sustainable solutions to remain economically viable, while ensuring a quality service for users.

In Cabourg, the AQUA DIVA aqualudic center opted for renewable energies with the installation of Dualsun SPRING4 hybrid solar panels in 2024. This innovative technology enables the Nordic pool to be heated efficiently, while reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Carried out in collaboration with installer and operator Hervé Thermique, it combines electricity and heat production simultaneously.

An intelligent, optimized energy solution

The installation consists of a field of 115 SPRING4 hybrid solar panels combined with a 50 kW SOLERPAC P Heliopac heat pump. This combination maintains the temperature of the Nordic pool all year round. With a surface area of 300 m² and containing 430 m³ of water, the pool is partially covered 12 hours a day, with a daily renewal of 12 m³ over a 10-hour period.

In addition, a field of 609 Dualsun FLASH photovoltaic panels enhances the site’s self-consumption of electricity, bringing the total installed capacity to 100 kWp. This additional energy helps to power the center’s infrastructure while reducing energy bills.

A remarkable environmental and economic impact

The hybrid solar system at the Aqua Diva center offers a number of advantages:

  • A significant reduction in energy costs, limiting dependence on fossil fuels.
  • Local, renewable energy production, ensuring greater stability in the face of fluctuating energy prices.
  • A reduced carbon footprint, with significantly lower CO₂ emissions.

Dualsun, a forward-looking solution for community pools

The AQUA DIVA example demonstrates that municipal pools can adopt innovative solutions to secure their energy supply while reducing operating costs. With Dualsun’s SPRING4 hybrid solar panels, they have a high-performance, cost-effective alternative for the long term. It’s an essential step towards guaranteeing the long-term viability of aquatic infrastructures, while contributing to the energy transition.
